Whale watching season is at its best when you can see mothers with calves, swimming together for the first moments of baby’s existence. The feeling that such a sight elicits is one of sheer wonderment, and certainly one you never forget. Here is a great BBC clip of world free-diving champion Tanya Streeter and her experiences documenting the whales, including a mother teaching her offspring how to breathe and hold its breath underwater. Even on video, it is a great reminder of the intimate relationships of marine animals.
