Bloody Bay Wall
The top place to go SCUBA diving in the Cayman Islands, Bloody Bay Wall can drop to 22,000 feet in depth. The Cayman Trough is studded with tiny caverns, caves, and crevices, all of them occupied by the brightly colored fauna of the region. Big-lipped Nassau groupers have grown accustomed to divers and view them without fear, while small reef fish, eels, turtles, and sharks can all be spotted making themselves at home. Bloody Bay Wall stretches out for a mile, populated by some of the most diverse and exotic animal life in the world.
Eden Rock
Grand Cayman has over 300 dive sites, each one of them more popular than the last, but Eden Rock — and its extension Devil’s Grotto — sets itself apart. The abundance of sergeant majors and yellowtails have become something of a trademark for the dive site. Huge coral heads lurk just below the surface, connected to each other by an intricate system of tunnels and caves. Devil’s Grotto features the same but larger and with more open chimneys and swim-throughs. During the summer, tarpons and silversides crowd Devil’s Grotto, transforming the already fascinating dive into a mesmerizing and memorable experience.
Snapper Reef
Local favorite Snapper Ledge in Cayman Brac is named after the yellowtail snappers that live in the area. The staggeringly diverse wildlife of the area, which includes nurse sharks, moray eels, goat fish, and countless others, attracts more seasoned divers while the relatively shallow depth of 25 feet makes it appealing to beginners. The schools of fish sometimes grow so thick that it becomes impossible to see through them. The reef also boasts a large Queen and Horse conch population.
