Take Your iPhone For a Dive!

No, we don’t mean for a dip in the toilet or your favorite beverage. Those are the worst kinds of dives your iPhone can take, as many a mournful iProduct owner will tell you. The kind of dive we’re talking about is the dive we all wish we could live-Tweet or post on Facebook for all our friends to see — the blowing bubbles kind! While there are many types of underwater cameras to choose from, technology is advancing in a way that allows us to never, ever be separated from our smartphones again, even when we’re deep below the surface of the sea. If you’ve been itching to Instagram that beautiful coral reef, or blog your silly underwater mask face on Tumblr, these two revolutionary iPhone housings can make that happen for around a hundred bucks with free shipping from LeisurePro!

BONSSI_4Bonica SS-i Underwater Camera Housing for iPhone – $139.95

Whether you’ve got the 3, 4, or 4S model of iPhone, Bonica has you covered to dive with their SS-i underwater iPhone housing. Depth rated to 40 meters, this comprehensive housing is constructed from durable clear polycarbonate, offering shock-proof protection from water (duh), heat, dirt, and sand so you can use it anywhere your action-packed adventures take you. It features an optically-corrected lens port so you can capture distortion-free images and video, and enhanced user controls make underwater maneuvering as easy as it is topside. The housing will even fit your iPhone with most protective cases, adding even more shock protection. A standard tripod mount allows you to accessorize this housing with a tray and lights if you want to get really fancy with it, and an iOS app is included in the package to help you get to know and use your new housing. WTRI4HWatershot Inc. iPhone 4/4S Underwater Housing – $89.95

This underwater iPhone housing from Watershot Inc. is another great option for those who are looking for an immersive experience with their iPhone on a dive. The distinct difference between this housing and the one above is that some of the design features are set up for future innovations, such as the threaded lens bezel that will support screw-on lenses and filters for a more refined touch in your underwater images. The lens baffle eliminates backscatter and halo effects for crisp still and video footage, and it has 3 separate tripod mounts for options when it comes to tray and lighting setups. The Watershot housing also includes an app, which offers features like burst shooting and a wake-up mode that will automatically enter the app when your iPhone goes dormant after a period of non-use. It is also depth rated to 40 meters, and the lens-side of the case is bright yellow so you can easily spot it if you happen to drop it, but the included lanyard should keep it securely around your wrist so that doesn’t happen. Here’s a installation tutorial direct from Watershot Inc. to give you a good idea of its use and features:

  1. Have any housing for galaxy note 2 phone?

  2. I have iGills and love it. It turns your iPhone into a dive computer (which was surprisingly accurate!) and an underwater camera/video camera. I was posting dive pics on my surface interval! :)

  3. Are they going to make it for the iPhone 5.
